Keystone Wealth Management

Offering Retirement Planning, Simplified

by Steve Cook

Regardless of our age, most of us, from the time we enter the workforce, will pretty quickly begin thinking about retirement. If you fall into that category, you have likely come to realize that it can often be a daunting task trying to figure out the complexities involved.

Many folks in and around Powhatan have come to appreciate that Keystone Wealth Management very capably eliminates much of that complexity.

Julie Manning explains that the key differentiators between Keystone and other financial planning firms include their core belief in the value of holistic planning.  “Instead of selling you a product, we look at your investments, insurance, , social security strategies, Medicare, estate planning needs, and develop a tax reduction strategy around all of them.”

Traditionally, this kind of planning is offered to the ultra-wealthy, however Manning offers the same services to hard working Americans. She says “You don’t have to be part of the Goldman Sachs Family to enjoy the same attention to financial planning. ”

Manning, a native of Florida, has lived in Virginia for 36 years. For the past five years, she and her husband Greg have enjoyed the outdoor life on their small  Powhatan County farm, which they share with their horses, chickens, dogs, and cats. Between the two, they have raised eight children. They also have two grandkids.

Manning says she got her start in the insurance industry 26 years ago before transitioning to financial planning in 2012. “So many of my clients were asking for advice on such matters as 401k and retirement planning, and I was not licensed to help them.

In 2019, she opened Keystone Wealth Management. Drawing on her many years of experience, Manning says that she has created a four-step process that enables her to put together a plan that is always in her client’s best interests.

She details the four steps:

“First, we discover where you are now. We then  determine where you want to go.” With that information in hand, she then moves on to steps three and four: We deliver your holistic plan and follow that up with dedicated service and support.”

She says of the process, “We get to know our clients and ask a lot of questions to get them through their retirement goals.”

This approach is obviously not a one-size-fits-all solution. Manning says, “We utilize the Bucket Plan® Best Interest Process, an approach designed to reduce risk and help our clients reach their immediate, short-term, and long-term goals. The Bucket Plan can be utilized based on your specific needs, no matter what life stage you’re in.”

Manning emphasizes how seriously she and her team take their fiduciary responsibility towards each client. “Our client’s best interest always comes first”.

She says that most clients don’t want to get involved in the complexities. “They want their retirement and asset management simplified. They basically want their money to last as long as they do. After years in the business, we have developed a reputation for educating individuals in an easy-to-understand manner so they can grasp personal finance and use those concepts to pursue their financial objectives. We feel a commitment to our community.”
