While the advertising world, social media, and the fashion industry may put undue emphasis on physical beauty, the truth is we all want to look our best. All too often, however, some show more concern for their outward appearance than for their own health. 

However, thanks to Posh Med Spa and Wellness Center at 3867 Old Buckingham Road, residents of Powhatan don’t have to choose one over the other. 

Deedee Karanian, who owns the center has combined her appreciation for beauty with her passion for and her training in the medical field to create Posh. Describing the wellness center, Karanian says, “Posh is aimed at health, wellness, and overall beauty, both inside and out. We want you to look and feel the very best you can!”

Further, when you visit Posh, you’re working with your neighbors. Karanian and her family have lived in Powhatan for the past 18 years. That family includes her husband, John, who is Vice-President of the law firm Barnes & Diehl, P.C. He practices family law and also continues to hold a license as a Clinical Psychologist. The couple have two sons. Zack, 20, is a sophomore at JMU and William, 19, is playing baseball at Richard Bland with the goal of graduating from UVA.”

Karanian’s background is in Nurse Anesthesiology. “Most of my career was in the heart and vascular operating rooms. I have loved every second of it,” she says. But she also has another love. “I have always loved beauty, skin care, fashion, and makeup.”

She explains, “After taking a Botox and fillers course for health professionals more than 2 years ago, I realized I wanted more out of it and pursued becoming a skin care professional with PCA skin care line. This has snowballed into all things Med Spa.”

Posh Med Spa offers a host of personalized services including chemical peels, skin care consultations, Botox for both cosmetic and therapeutic applications, and both facial and body waxing. Plus, Posh Med Spa offers IV therapy with vitamin and amino acid replacements, and IM skinny shots. In that vein, Karanian adds, “I am very excited that we have recently begun offering a weight loss program featuring Semaglutide and diet and exercise support.”

In addition to the support of her husband and sons, Karanian says, “I also am very lucky to have Sherry B. Ellison as my NP/ Medical Director and Amy Saber and Hunter King as my receptionists. I may own Posh and run the day to day of it all, but I have a wonderful support system as well.”
