Are you ready to head for the hills? This is, indeed, the ideal time of year to visit the beautiful mountains of Virginia. Consider all that the Blue Ridge has to offer…fantastic foliage, exceptional Virginia wines, charming inns, and amazing dining. Are you ready to roll?
If so, and if you’re looking for something off the beaten path, check out the Arcady Vineyard Bed and Breakfast. Just the name sounds inviting, doesn’t it.
Imagine spending a weekend in your beautiful room or suite, overlooking the property’s vineyard. And if those vineyards move you to want to do a little tasting, there are fantastic wineries just down the road.
Close your eyes for a moment and picture this scenario. In less than an hour’s drive, the beautiful Blue Ridge begins to come into view. Breathtaking, isn’t it? Soon, you’re going to hop off I-64 and turn onto Milton Road. Within moments, you’ll make your way down a private drive, which lies nestled among 14 wooded acres. The beautiful craftsman-style building soon comes into view. You have arrived.
Even if you’ve visited Thomas Jefferson’s impressive Monticello, or taken your family apple picking at Carter’s Mountain, both of which are nearby, you may be surprised to have “discovered” this very special place.
“We would have never known this was back here!” That’s the response Kathy Geist says she often hears. Kathy and her husband David own and operate the Arcady Vineyard Bed and Breakfast. I asked her how she and David had discovered the place.
“We found the property on a B&B brokerage site when it was listed for sale in early 2016,” she explains. “As we imagined, it has become the ideal segue to retirement.”
The Geists purchased the property from its original owners and moved from their home in Central Pennsylvania. She says that she grew up in Northern Virginia and David hails from Chester, Pennsylvania, “This is David’s first stint as a Virginia resident and he is not disappointed,” Kathy says.
Nor will you be disappointed when you make this your getaway destination. In addition to your beautiful accommodations in an idyllic setting, each room offers a view of the vineyard. Kathy adds, “The B&B has a spacious feel with well laid out common areas including a library and two other large sitting areas.”
Each room offers a mini fridge stocked with complimentary beverages, including a bottle of sparkling wine. “Additionally,” Kathy adds, “We feature fresh flower bouquets in each room and an in-room port and local artisan chocolate pairing as a welcome amenity.”
Smart TVs, heated towel racks, and heated bathroom floors (in season), round out the creature comforts of each guestroom.
“There is a room for every price point and desired feature,” Kathy says. She explains that three of the rooms have jetted tubs, two have fireplaces, and two have private decks. She says that two other rooms share a very large deck, which overlooks the vineyard and is ideal for families and friends.

Of course, this is a bed and breakfast, so prepare yourself for your morning gourmet treat. “A full, country-style comfort-food breakfast is served at nine every morning,” Kathy says. “We source locally from the wonderful specialty farms and orchards in the Charlottesville area.”
While you may wish to stay on property for your entire getaway, there’s plenty to do within a few minute’s drive.
In fact, Monticello is just two miles away. And Carter’s Mountain is only three miles away. Do you want to pick fruit, taste some delicious wines or enjoy cider and donuts? Well, you can do it all on Carter’s Mountain.
If you’re making this a wine-tasting getaway, there are dozens of excellent wineries nearby, including Jefferson Vineyards, Trump Winery, Keswick Vineyards, and Pippin Hill Farm & Vineyards.
