McGee Tree and Ground Services

Beautifying Powhatan One Tree at a Time

If you’re a homeowner or landowner, you love having beautiful trees on your property.   If the solution to having such surroundings has you stumped, call Mitch McGee at McGee Tree and Ground Services. Perhaps there’s an overgrown tree, or a tree growing too close to your home, or maybe there are one or more unsightly stumps that stand in the way of your having that perfect lawn. Get to the root of the problem and let Mitch provide the perfect solution.

You can be comfortable knowing that when you call Mitch, you are getting  an honest and experienced professional at your service. He has been removing trees, grinding stumps, and beautifying properties for over 22 years. Are you ready to head for the hills? This is, indeed, the ideal time of year to visit the beautiful mountains of Virginia. Consider all that the Blue Ridge has to offer…fantastic foliage, exceptional Virginia wines, charming inns, and amazing dining. Are you ready to roll?

Mitch explains that he somewhat fell into the business. “I was stationed at Camp Lejeune,” he says, adding, “And when a Marine isn’t doing Marine Corps duties, he does whatever needs to be done.” Following a storm that battered the North Carolina Coast and Camp Lejeune in the early ‘90s, he says that what was needed to be done at the time was working with a civilian contractor to help clean up storm damage. Mitch explains that it was this experience working with a certified arborist that opened his eyes to that world and helped him understand things he’d never thought about. He continued to work with the arborist for the final five months of his active duty, after which he stayed in North Carolina and continued to do tree and stump maintenance.

When Mitch eventually moved back to Midlothian, where he had grown up, he continued to do tree work for folks in Chesterfield and Metro Richmond. In 2002, after relocating to Powhatan, Mitch started his own business. For the next 15 years, he did residential tree work, stump grinding, and storm clean-up. About eight years ago, he added forestry mulching and land management to the list of services offered.

While he can tackle any sized job, Mitch says he deliberately keeps the business from growing so big that he is unable to provide personalized service to his customers. “We’re still basically a mom-and-pop operation,” he says. Not only is he the one who will provide you with an estimate for the job, but he also comes back and does the job himself. Such personalized and individualized service is important.  “A handshake still means something to me,” Mitch says.

In addition to stump grinding, his forestry mulcher allows him to grind smaller trees into mulch, as well as offering a variety of other services that will add to the beauty of your property.

Perhaps you’re putting in a new driveway. Again, call Mitch. If you need a culvert installed or your driveway repaired and cleared, he can do that, too.

“Whether it’s one tree or the entire property that you need reclaimed,” Mitch says you can   have the confidence that by contacting McGee Tree and Ground Services, you’re getting the expert services of a veteran-owned and operated, licensed, and insured local business.” PROBLEM TREE?
