Seniors can take advantage of a wide range of discounts that help make everyday living more affordable and enjoyable. From restaurants to retail stores, travel to education, senior citizens across the country can benefit from special deals simply because of their age. Knowing how and where to look for these discounts can result in significant savings, which is good news for anyone trying to stretch a dollar. Several stores provide unpublished discounts to Seniors, so make sure to ask if they’re available at checkout. Let’s face it…you’ve earned the benefits that come with age, and taking advantage of them is a smart way to celebrate and support your lifestyle.

AARP: AARP members find exclusive discounts that can’t be found anywhere else. If you’re not already a member, visit them online for membership details and offers.

Retail Stores: Michaels offers Seniors 10% off every Wednesday. Seniors get a 15% discount on purchases at Kohls, and all Pleasants Hardware locations offer 10% off to seniors on Tuesdays.

Oil changes: AARP members can enjoy 15% off oil changes at Valvoline. Restaurants: McDonald’s has long offered discounted senior drinks and coffee, and, like many other eateries, Bonefish Grill and Denny’s provide AARP member discounts. Additionally, IHOP has a discounted senior menu.

Museums: The Science Museum of Virginia, the Virginia Museum of History & Culture, the Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden, and the Valentine Museum all offer discounted admissions for seniors.

Community Colleges: Reynolds Community College offers a Tuition Waiver for Individuals 60 years or older who meet specific income qualifications.

Virginia State Parks: Seniors can purchase a significantly discounted annual pass online under the “Naturally Yours” program.
